What buyers should check
Logo printing and color changes usually require less commitment than structural changes. Packaging, label and manual customization can often be combined with a standard product platform.
New housings, brackets or optical parts may require tooling. Buyers should request a tooling ownership agreement, expected tool life and sample approval milestones before production.
A useful sampling plan separates appearance samples, functional samples and pre-production samples. Each one answers a different buying question and should have clear acceptance criteria.
